Betsy ABLANEDO Obituary

ABLANEDO, Betsy Violet

Betsy Violet Ablanedo left this world peacefully on Friday, September 5th at 12:03PM in Austin, Texas where she had lived since 1964. She was surrounded by her loving family. At 91 years of age she saw this world change in unbelievable ways throughout her life. She was born in Chesterfield, England in 1923 in the shadows of the First Great War and came of age during the Battle of Britain in the Second.

She was the oldest girl of six siblings: John Robinson (d.), Bill Robinson (Margaret), Alf Robinson (Audrey (d.)), Allen Robinson (Sophia) and Barbara Knight (Jeff (d.)). Betsy served in the Royal British Air Force where she met the love of her life, Armand Ablanedo (d.), a young American soldier. Together they made a prosperous life in the U.S and raised four children: Irene Ablanedo, Armand Ablanedo (Dorothy), Ralph Ablanedo (d.) and Arlene Ablanedo (d.). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Steve (Joao), Amanda (Jody), Charles (Mia), David (Nina), Lance and her 8 ½ great grandchildren. She kept a strong bond between the family she made in the U.S and the family she left back in England where she is survived by her siblings and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Austin Cops for Charities at 5817 Wilcab Road Suite 1 Austin, Texas 78721 in recognition and memory of the service and sacrifice by the late APD officer Ralph Ablanedo and the entire Ablanedo family.

I will always treasure all the memories we shared with Jack and Armand, lots of great laughs over a Jim Beam. You will forever be in my prayers, love you.

Betsy was certainly one of a kind. I remember her as a kid growing up and running around with Arlene her youngest and all of the memories that I have of the Ablanedo family. Love you all.
