Brady D. "Big Brady" Nelson Services for Brady D. "Big Brady" Nelson, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale with Rev. Doug Springer officiating. Burial will follow in the Salty Cemetery near Thorndale. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at the funeral home. Brady D. "Big Brady" Nelson, was born April 29, 1932 in Rockdale to Felix "Bud" and Addie (Powers) Nelson. He was one of seven children. He attended school in Salty and Rockdale. In 1962, he and Barbara King were married in Rockdale. To this union two children were born. Big Brady was owner and operator of Brady's Pest Control and a rancher until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale and was a supporter of numerous local and civic organizations. Big Brady passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 6, 2010 at his home with his family. He had reached the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include wife, Barbara Nelson of Rockdale; daughter, Kim Jones Leschber and husband Kenny of Rockdale; son, Brady D. Nelson, Jr. and wife Sherri of Rockdale; grandchildren, Brenten Clyde Jones and wife Stephanie of San Antonio, Blair Jones of College Station, Kathryn B. Nelson and Brady D. Nelson, III both of Rockdale; mother-in-law, Julia King of Rockdale; aunt, Elizabeth Powers of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
