Bryan Stevens Obituary

Bryan Ezell Stevens Bryan Ezell Stevens, Father and "Papaw", peacefully passed from this world on Friday, December 4, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Born in Cleburne, Texas July 26, 1924, Bryan grew up in [Central Texas, and raised a family who loved him greatly and will miss him dearly. Bryan is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret and his parents Esther and Forrest Stevens. He is survived by his children Barbara Pearcy, Randall Stevens and wife Wanda, Gary Stevens and wife Dana, and Mike Stevens, all of Austin. He leaves behind nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a loving extended family. After serving his country during World War II, Bryan and Margaret moved to Austin where he spent 15 years as a watchmaker. In 1958 he joined the Austin Police Department where he served in every capacity from a walking beat patrolman to Lieutenant in the Narcotics and Homicide Divisions. He was a talented musician who played with many country and western bands and the Jay Leutwyler Orchestra. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, was uniquely special to each family member, and loved each one completely. He was gentle, kind, strong and forgiving and many lives are better for having known him. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesday, December 8th at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, TX. His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. His grandsons will honor him as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are members of the "Over-The-Hill Gang".
