Carol Maynier Obituary

Carol Honts Maynier
February 14, 1941 - November 20, 2025
It is with great love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Honts Maynier, who left this world peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the age of 84.
Carol was born on February 14, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA. Being a Valentine's baby was the first sign that she would bring joy and happiness to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Penn State University (Go Nittany Lions!). While at Penn State, she met and fell in love with a larger-than-life Texan named Bob Honts. They married in 1964 and moved to Fort Worth, where Carol became an elementary school teacher and earned a master's degree at TCU. Carol and Bob subsequently moved to Austin and raised two sons.
In 1997, Carol married John Phillips Maynier, a Jamaican who also had a larger-than-life personality. He became the great love of her life. Through their marriage, Carol gained three wonderful adult stepchildren, and the Honts / Maynier families blended seamlessly. Carol and John's love united the entire clan.
Carol generously gave her time and talents to numerous Austin-based organizations, including Travis County MHMR; Delta Gamma Sorority; Pet Therapy Pals of Texas; and the Austin Science Center, where she delighted in introducing elementary students to snakes and other reptiles.
Carol is survived by her children, Rob Honts (Erin) and John Honts (Reina); her stepchildren Leigh Anne Maynier, Tracy Maynier, and Matt Maynier; her grandchildren, Kelly Honts, Rachel Honts, Julian Honts, and Reine Honts; and her brother, John Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ruth Butler, and her brother Bruce Butler.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Wednesday, November 26th at 2 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin, Texas.
