I just read about the Reverend's death. He has said more in death than many ever will in life. A true great soul. Thank you Reverend for always doing what you thought was right.

I did not know Charles, but I cannot help but cry when I read and re-read the Dallas Morning News article that explains what an amazing social justice deacon this man was.
I wish I had had him as a pastor growing up when I had a lot of issues with religion. I am so sad to hear that someone amazing has left this world. May God welcome him to Heaven with open arms and a celebration.

I did not know him, but I read the article in the Dallas Morning News earlier this week. I have thought of him daily since, deeply moved. I pray for those left behind to grieve, and for one driven to an act of such radical and deep conviction. What is remembered, lives.

I worked closely on a team with Charles in Brussels for a couple of years in the early eighties. I remember him in dear friendship, and lift up his completed life up in glory with all the saints who have gone before.

The Reverend Charles Moore was my pastor when I was a little girl living in Alba, Texas. My family and I loved him and his family very much.

He wrote the following poem for me:

"There is a little lady I know with hair like fine spun gold;

Wherever she may come and go, a soft and lovely light unfolds.

And as the years may come and go, it is my hope and earnest prayer

That the sweet, lovely, angelic glow

Will ever remain as fair."

I had the poem calligraphied and framed. I am now 66 years old; to this day, the poem hangs in my home. It is one of my greatest treasures.

I will always remember Charles Moore as a kind, caring man who loved The Lord and preached The Word.

I accept Rev. Moore's gift with grateful humility. I will consider carefully the ways in which I am not fully as committed as he in the things given to me to do...to live and spread Christ clear message...

I live in Sherman, Texas, and have just finished reading the article about the Rev. Moore's life and death on the front page of the Dallas Morning News. I very much appreciate everything that Rev. Moore stood for and would love to have attended his funeral service today to show my respect. His story today had a tremendous impact on my heart and my soul. My condolences to his family who must love him very much... I will do my best to continue his message in my own little part of the world.

May your loss ignite the passion for the causes he believed in in others!

May our loving God and the thoughts and prayers of others comfort you.

Your message for East Texas is one that I hope will be heard by many in this area and more. Wounds of injustice run deep. I hope many honor your memory by pursuing greater change in East Texas.
