Charles Pardonner Obituary

Charles Franklin Pardonner Charles Franklin Pardonner, 73, of Austin, a retired Tracor executive, died of a heart attack on Friday, December 4, 2009 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. A native of Angleton, Texas, he attended the University of Texas before enlisting in the U.S. Army. After completing his service, he returned to Austin. There he met, fell in love with, and married his lifelong companion, Amanda Jane Wiley of Leander, TX. Charlie devoted his time and attention to several passions in which he had an ongoing interest. He was an officer and active member of the Austin Rifle Club where he ran a variety of competitive shooting events and trained young people in competitive shooting and gun safety. He was also an avid supporter of the University of Texas Athletics, especially the Lady Longhorns Basketball program and was a member of the UT Women's Athletic Council. He and his wife, Amanda, were faithful followers of the team. They enjoyed traveling with the team to tournaments, conference games and championship tournaments. They were attending the Paradise Jam Basketball Tournament in St. Thomas when he passed away. Charlie had an unrivaled zest for life and an incomparable sense of humor. One of his favorite phrases was "Be yourself. Everyone else is taken!" He loved people and never met a stranger. In addition to his wife of 36 years, he is survived by his sister, Patty Morgan and husband Eddie of Marietta, Georgia; a niece, Mary Anne McAdams and husband Kevin of Holly Springs, North Carolina; a nephew, Jim Morgan and wife Aimee of Birmingham, Alabama; grandnieces, Madelyn McAdams and Hallie Morgan; and grandnephews, Dylan McAdams and Charlie Morgan. Other survivors include cousins Mac and Kevin McCune and Lisa Padron of Richmond, Texas; Linda Floyd of Dallas, Texas and Briscoe McCune of Boulder, Colorado as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins on Amanda's side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Barkley Pardonner and Anna Dell English Pardonner; aunts, Connie McCune, Patricia English and Mary Epperson; and cousins Alan and Joe McCune. A special thanks to Bill Wiley, Amanda's brother, for his enduring love and support for both Charlie and Janie. Visitation will be held at Beck Funeral Home, 1700 E. Whitestone Blvd. Cedar Park, TX, on Friday, December 11th, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander. Family and friends will gather afterwards to celebrate Charlie's life at Leander Presbyterian Church. Those wishing to make contributions may do so by donating to the Anne Pardonner Endowed Scholarship Fund through the Longhorn Foundation at the University of Texas, PO Box 7399, Austin, TX 78713 or to the American Heart Association in his memory.

Amanda, I was introduced to you and Charlie through my mother-in-law, Velma Evenson, while attending Lady Longhorn games. Velma worked with Charlie at Tracor too. She always had great things to say about your husband. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time of great sorrow. May the Lord be with you and ease your heavy heart.

Please accept my condolences on your loss. I knew Charlie as a member of our club and both liked him and had great respect for him. He will be missed.

Charlie must have been a perfect match for the Amanda Jane I knew from our high school days. I am sure the jovial Wiley family loved him and will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with Amanda and his entire family.

Charlie was a great husband to my sister, Amanda; a great brother-in-law to me; and became a essential part of the large Wiley family. He and Amanda probably set a world record of attending events where members of the family were participating, be it pee-wee sport teams to college teams to any type of school activity.

While he passed away much too early, he certainly lived life to the fullest while he was with us.

Janie, Everyday is a blessing. Each new day, the first day of the rest of our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of mourning, and Charlie will surely be missed by all.

Just remember.... His memories we will cherished forever. His unique laugh and sense of humor always remembered. His unselfishness towards others admired. I will surely miss his emails on a daily basis! One of his email taglines that I always loved was..."Enjoy Life, When and While YOU can!" I believe he did.

God Bless Uncle Charlie!!
He is a Great Man....a TEXAN-AMERICAN!!

Love, Bobby, Tracy, Travis & Sarah Henry
