Clyde Craigen Obituary

Clyde Craigen Clyde Craigen, 89, went home to meet his Savior and loved ones on September 18, 2009. He was born May 20, 1920, the seventh of nine children to Joe J. Craigen and Lillie Belle Burrell Craigen of Hamshire, Texas. Clyde proudly served in the US Army during World War II with the 245th Signal Corp Company in India and Burma. Upon his return he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Beaumont, Texas. He was transferred to Austin, Texas, in 1956 where he retired with over 37 years of service. He was presented a lifetime membership in the Telephone Pioneers of America in recognition and dedication to the principles of fellowship, loyalty and service. Clyde was affliated with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 856 and The American Legion Post No. 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters and his wife of 52 years, Alene Craigen. Clyde is survived by one brother, Rush Craigen, Beaumont, Texas. He was known as Pop to all his family which includes two sons, Clyde M. Craigen and wife Pat; Don E. Craigen and wife, Pat; four grandchildren, Taylor Craigen and wife Cindy, College Station, Texas, Marlene Craigen McCain and husband, Wade, Athens, Alabama; Jarrett Craigen and wife, Bethina, Kingsland, Texas; Jalen Craigen, Kingsland, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Abbie and Callie Craigen, College Station, Texas; Hannah and Ty McCain, Athens, Alabama; Jayton Craigen, Sean Craigen and Bryce Craigen, Kingsland, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Cook- Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009, in the Chapel of Cook- Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, Texas, with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, Texas, on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. The family extends a special Thank You and word of appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Park Valley Inn Health Center, Round Rock, Texas and Lighthouse Hospice, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel Assembly of God, Austin, Texas.
