Dirk John Jolink

JOLINK, Dirk John A truly beloved original, Dirk John Jolink, 72, passed away peacefully at home on January 2nd 2021 surrounded by family. Growing up in Comanche,Texas, Dirk developed his love of baseball, was involved in student government as class president for two years, and acquired many long lasting friendships. He attended Texas Tech University, University of Americas in Mexico City, and the University of Texas at Austin. He first moved to Austin in the late sixties and had the good fortune to fit many different lifetimes into one as he watched the city change around him. He dedicated his life to his family, working in a range of different professions from restaurant owner in downtown Austin, to a brief stint with the FBI, before spending ten years working for the Texas General Land Office. All of his diverse job titles and many life adventures always brought intriguing stories to those who were fortunate enough to know him for any length of time. Family, friends and strangers alike appreciated him for his warm humor, quick wit, and generous spirit. Dirk was a genuinely unique and honest person who left an indelible impression on the people and places with whom he crossed paths. He is preceded in death by his parents, John & Bette Jolink, brother Gray B. Jolink and brother-in-law Curtis R. Davis. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of forty years, Carol; beloved daughters Chaille and Jennifer; sisters-in-law Kathy Jolink and Jennifer Knauer Davis; brothers-in-law Kim and Kevin Davis; eleven nieces and nephews, along with numerous other loved relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with given notice. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you simply pay any kindness forward to someone in need, something Dirk would have done, to Hospice Austin, or a favorite charity.
