Drew WENSKE Obituary

Dennet Ray Wenske, Jr. "Drew" passed peacefully Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Austin, Texas at the age of 20 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Drew is survived by his parents, Catherine and Dennet Wenske; sister, Morgan Wenske of Austin, Texas; grandmother, Cleo Wenske of La Grange, Texas. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon H. Wenske of La Grange, Texas, Mary Moore Smith, Charles B. Moore and Weldon H. Smith of Houston, Texas.
Drew was born on August 18, 1995 in Houston, Texas. He attended Regents School of Austin, City School of Austin, and graduated from Westlake High School in 2015. He was attending Austin Community College with a goal of a degree in Economics/Business. He was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
A gentle soul with a firm handshake, Drew lived his life full of grace and joy with an overwhelming love for God and others. He was a truly special son, brother, and friend to everyone. Drew was fully present wherever he was and filled simple moments with enthusiasm. He made everyone around him feel special, valued, and significant. He believed everything was within reach. His passion for the outdoors was matched by his love for reading, music, and desire to learn about everything of interest. All these things were evident in Drew's warm smile. Behind his smile was a heart so pure, a faith so strong that he was beyond confident in his eternal life. We will remember a genuine, sweet, optimistic, loving, thoughtful gentleman that had a deep love for everyone he knew.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday at 2:00 p.m. on June 13, 2016 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3201 Windsor Rd, Austin, TX. The Rev. Morgan S. Allen will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Drew's life.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Drew Wenske Memorial Fund for Epilepsy Research at P. O. Box 5263, Austin, TX 78763. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Dell Children's EMU for their compassion and loving care. For that, we are grateful.

I was the piper for Drew's funeral service and was glad to contribute to his memory; and I am very sad to never had had the chance to meet him in this life. I was moved by the love he obviously inspired in all who were lucky enough to have known him. That speaks well of his spirit and character. He drew a bad hand and is taken from us too soon, but I shall also never forget him and will look forward to making his acquaintance later, on the other side. Peace to him and all who loved him.

The loss of a young life is especially difficult and though I didn't know Drew he made an impression on my son in the short time they spent together, making memories with their dads, and enjoying something they both loved so much. I met Drew only one time and he left a lasting impression. I stopped by with my husband John while he was working on your home's remodel. Drew was the perfect host. Gave me a tour of the home and proudly pointed out the future library. He seemed to be especially looking forward to that room's completion. To me he seemed to be a remarkable young man.
