Mr. E. Black was an ICON in Lockhart when I was growing up (60s) with my parents in the farming community . He was admire by the Hispanic community. He believe in giving back to his community. Extending credit to the farming families at his store till head of household came in later that day to pay for groceries. Many times giving small groceries items at no cost to his customers ("El Pilon" - the freebie.). He kept his customers happy and valued them. Knew most of the customers by name. My he RIP.......

All my love and support are with the Black family. I had the pleasure of being in and directing some shows at Black's Opera House in the 90's. Edgar was always so gracious and caring. His tradition continues. I will do my best to be there for the services.

The Coffey family send our deepest condolences. Edgar and his family will be in our prayers and thoughts.
We have so many great memories of our vacations in Lockhart, visiting the Black family in the Edgar Black Sr. home not far from the Square , and the many times eating at Black BBQ. Edgar Jr. was one of my mother's first cousins and she was very proud of her uncle and her cousin's accomplishments.
