Erin Ramsey Obituary
Erin Christina Reese Ramsey was born in Dallas, Texas, July 13,1969 to Alice and Carl Reese. She grew up in Greenville, Texas, where she competed in gymnastics for seven years and was a member of the Olympics of the Mind (now Destination Imagination) team that went to the World competition in Flagstaff, Arizona.
After graduating from high school a year early, she studied painting and drawing at the Scuola de Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy. Then, Erin continued her art studies at the University of North Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991.
Erin married Lance James Ramsey December 20, 1991. They lived in Dallas, Austin, El Paso and Nashville, Tennessee and then settled in Austin, Texas where their son Reese Wilson Ramsey was born Feb. 15, 1999.
Starting at age 6, Reese began playing golf. Erin became a golf mom as they traveled, so he could compete in junior and then amateur tournaments throughout the U.S. and Canada. She continued to support his efforts as a member of the Austin Westlake High School golf team and then as a member of the Texas A&M University golf team. Her duties as golf mom included whipping up a bunch of peanut butter and banana sandwiches each morning that would provide energy on the course.
Relishing her role as hostess, Erin organized annual themed Christmas parties including "Hawaiian Christmas" and the unforgettable "Caddyshack Christmas." From her home at the Austin Country Club, Erin entertained golf friends and fans during the PGA's Dell Match Play.
Erin loved traveling and, as a true foodie, savored various culinary experiences. She was fortunate to travel the world with her family, including several wine and fly fishing trips to New Zealand.
Each summer, she delighted in spending time at a special spot, the family's home at the Old Baldy Club in Saratoga, Wyoming where the fishing is amazing. She also enjoyed spending time with Reese at his home in Thermopolis, Wyoming, where many members of the community embraced her with kindness and support.
