George Cardwell Obituary

George L. Cardwell III was born in San Antonio on July 21, 1940, and died peacefully at home on December 30, 2023. He was the son of Kathryn and George L. Cardwell Junior. George was an Eagle Scout, and class president at Lockhart High School, where he graduated in 1958. He completed his undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas. He taught at UT until retirement and received numerous teaching awards.

George married Barbara Bellamy on June 8, 1963. They shared 60 blessed years together. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cardwell, son Robert Cardwell and wife Terry, grandson Matthew Cardwell, and sister-in-law Kathy Bellamy.

George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family, friends, dogs, golf, hunting and shooting, baseball, his students, physics, and learning.

Visitation will be at Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750, on January 11 at 10 AM. Memorials can be made to the Humane Society, Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
