Glen Edward Russell Nov. 18, 1962 - Nov. 24, 2006 Elizabeth Glen Russell Aug. 28, 1996 - Nov. 24, 2006 Glen Russell, age 44, and his daughter, Elizabeth, age 10, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 24, 2006. Glen, a Christian and an Eagle Scout, was a 20-year employee with the VA Automation Center in Austin as a Computer Analyst Specialist. He grew up in the Louisiana community of Pickering and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from what is now the University of Louisiana - Lafayette. He was a loving husband, proud father, caring son, thoughtful brother and fun uncle. He loved life and found the humor in every situation. He is survived by Glen's wife Stephanie Bowden Russell, of Bastrop, Texas, his parents, Gerald and Nina Russell of Leesville, Louisiana, his mother and father-in-law, Tom and Elaine Bowden of San Saba, Texas, his sister Tina Gelinas and her husband John of Haughton, Louisiana, his sister, Aprile Greenleaf and her husband Jay of Shreveport, Louisiana, and his brother Eric and wife Crystal of Kyle, Texas, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brad and Jennifer Bowden of Brownsville, Texas, and his nieces and nephews, Crystal Borrel and her husband Dusty, Chelsea Gelinas, Samantha, Dylan and Madelyn Greenleaf and Nicole, Tommy, Major and Lindsey Bowden who will always remember the fun times they had with their Uncle Glen. Elizabeth was a 5th grader at Bannockburn Baptist School in Austin, TX, which she dearly loved. She found her niche in the leadership program there, which gave her the opportunity to tutor Kindergarten students. She previously attended Legacy Oaks Christian School in Austin. She was also a cherished member of Fishers of Men Baptist Church where she will always be remembered for her extraordinary level of spiritual understanding and maturity. Elizabeth was the embodiment of God's love. The word most often used to describe her and how she made people feel was JOY. She lived a truly joyful and blessed life. Although her life was short, Elizabeth made the most of her time here in this world. She wanted to be a mother and a teacher when she grew up. She was a little "mother" to every younger child and pet she could get her hands on, and in addition to her tutoring, she took every opportunity to teach and share. Elizabeth knew and understood that she was a dearly loved child of God, and she freely passed this love on to everyone and everything she encountered. Everyone who met her had an "Elizabeth story" to tell. These memories will be written in our hearts forever. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandfather, Elvis Fusilier, and is survived by her mother, Candy Russell of Austin, Texas, her grandmother, Belle Fusilier of Branch, Louisiana, her grandparents, Gerald and Nina Russell of Leesville, Louisiana, her stepmother, Stephanie Russell of Cedar Creek, Texas, her step grandparents, Tom and Elaine Bowden of San Saba, Texas, and hosts of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, Louisiana. There will also be a memorial service held in Austin, Texas on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Beacon Ridge Baptist Church located at 8300 South 1st Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either World Vision - Women of Vision (www.worldvision.org) or to Fair Haven Stables (attn: Martha Faith Droughton, PO Box 1911, Bastrop TX 78602) for a scholarship fund that has been established in Elizabeth's name so that underprivileged children can attend the horse camp that Elizabeth loved.
