Hollis Boehme Obituary
Born on November 28, 1933, Hollis graduated from Mabank High School in 1949 and later earned a BA in Mathematics (1960), an MS in Physics (1961), and a PhD in Physics (1967), all from Texas A&M University. His early years included honorable service in the U.S. Army from July 1953 to June 1956.
Throughout his career, Hollis contributed his expertise to Tracor, Inc., Synergy, Inc., Land-Air Corporation, and Applied Research Laboratories at the University of Texas at Austin. He also worked in construction and was known for his hands-on approach to solving problems and building solutions. There was nothing he could not do, if he set his mind to it.
Hollis is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Vada Boehme; sons Brandon Boehme and his wife Cindy, and Michael Boehme; daughter Brooke Winfrey and her husband John; brother Jerry Boehme and his wife Judy; and sister Nelda Sue Sexton and her husband James. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Ella Mae Boehme; siblings Charlie Boehme, Doris Logan, Billy Ray Boehme, and Anita Martin.
A man of deep faith, Hollis was a lifelong student of the Bible, who worshipped with God daily. He lived with unwavering integrity, humility, and strength. His wisdom and sacrificial nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Whether re-roofing a house, solving difficult physics and acoustical problems, repairing a car, working on classified military projects, cooking Sunday "breakfast for dinner" meals, or laying stone walls/planters from native rock, Hollis approached every task with diligence and excellence.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hollis' memory to Volunteers For Christ, Inc. (www.vfcbrazil.org), supporting missionary Pastor Eduardo.
