Joe Graffeo Obituary

Joseph V. Graffeo, Jr. Joe Graffeo was born in Fort Worth, Texas and grew up in Highland Park, Texas. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School. He served in the Army during the final year of World War II. He held a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and was a proud Texas-Ex all his life. His career included positions with IBM, Collins Radio, Texas Instruments, and DeVry Institute of Technology. He loved music, and for several years was a church choir director, and was a past member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph V. Graffeo, Sr.; mother, Geneva Swink Corley; brother, George Graffeo; grandson, Will Sarosdy. He is survived by his wife, Joy Graffeo of Austin; sister, Genevieve Sharp of Dallas; daughters, Jane Graffeo Sarosdy of Austin, Susan E. Graffeo of Austin, Genevieve G. Stubbs and son-in-law Kevin D. Stubbs of Arlington, VA; sons, Joseph V. Graffeo, III of Richardson, TX, Francis D. Graffeo and daughter-in-law Christina Graffeo of Knoxville, TN, Stephen P. Graffeo and partner Jim Weigand of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, John D. Stubbs and Margaret J. Bosenbark of College Station, TX, Frank R. Sarosdy and Grace J. Sarosdy of Austin, Lorenzo A. Graffeo of Knoxville; one great-grandchild. Memorial service was held on March 21, 2011 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Austin, TX.

I was a student of Mr Graffeo's when I attended De Vry Institute of Technology in Dallas between Jan 1975 and Feb 1977. I remember him being quite a guy! I enjoyed knowing him and am sorry to just learn of his passing.
