John, I knew you as Menudo, not as a personal friend...but what is personal? Online is often as close. I will miss your comments on RGQ as well as will everyone on the list, you always made me laugh! I'm sure Scooter will be well taken care of, and he will someday meet you again at the Rainbow Bridge, then you two can resume your lives together.
I'm missing you!

Dearest "Uncle Jack"
You left this world leaving me with so many wonderful memories that helped make me who I am today. I will never forget the times we played pool in Weimar, setting off fireworks in ant beds, swimming for hours in Mimi's pool, bringing "Christmas" in black trash bags, putting clues in our easter eggs that lead to money! haha, drinking egg nog on the holidays, playing boards games for hours, etc etc etc. Thank you for being so wonderful to my two girls, Marleena and Montgomery. I will keep your spirit in their hearts alive. I love you "uncle jack". Love,Susie

I apologize if this message seems tacky, but surely some readers of this guest book will be baffled by references to RGQ or Really Good Quotes. John was a frequent contributor to an e-zine called RGQ under the nick of menudo.
Should anyone like to view his writings, please go to the home page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/reall
ygoodquotes/ and scroll down about 1/3 page. You'll see Most Recent Messages, and a search box next to it. Just type "menudo" (without quotation marks), and about 320 hits will be returned. It's a great insight into his thoughts for those who cared about him.

"John wuz here"
I remember in grade school we always sign each other's book covers and locker wipe-off boards with who was there.
I just wanted to say simply that "John wuz here" is stamped all over my heart. I'm ever so grateful for the chance to meet him and the times I've had visiting with him.

This was the Tribute I wrote in RGQ for John (our Menudo). I hope his family finds comfort in knowing how deeply he touched the lives of the many of us who never even 'met' him.
For Menudo:
Put the rubber mouse away
Pick the spools up from the floor
What was velvet-shod and gay
Will not want them anymore
What was warm is strangly cold
Wence disolved the little breath
How could such a small thing hold
So immence a thing as death.
This poem is titled, "For a dead kitten", I can think of no better tribute than this for a Cool Cat like Menudo. I will miss his quick wit, and thoughtful musings.
Faithy - from Baltimore, and extreme cat lover. (Bye Bud, we will truly miss you)

Jack was a childhood friend. I remember him as quick-witted, creative and non-judgemental. As the "new kid", I valued his friendship a lot. His passing elicits sadness and regret. I'm sorry we won't have that "one-more time" to share. I extend my sympathies to Nancy, his children and extended family and friends. His memory is in good hands.

I never met John personally but I feel as if he is an old friend. I always enjoyed his contributions to the RGQ discussions. We will truly miss his input.
My sincere condolences go out to his family.
Here is a small tribute to John in limerick form that he was so good at writing.
John was the best with a limerick.
That was what made him tick.
You could laugh or you could cry.
The least you would do is sigh.
His mind was just that quick.

John will be missed greatly by the folks at Really Good Quotes...he was always a breath of fresh air and I don't think ever wrote a single angry word, ever. We may not have known him in person, but we certainly feel like we've known him. Rest in peace, John.

I am shocked. Jack was my first and best friend. I'll always think of Jack as we were in grade school and High School. Looking for fun, riding motor bikes, trail rides, frog gigging in his pond. Rolling the roads in his Dad's Opal, then his Buick laughing all the way.
We were riding around during lunch one school day when President Kennedy was shot. After that Jack and I had long talks about the world and where it and we were going. Those times when it was just the two of us were the only times I ever saw Jack serious, any other time he was laughing and making others laugh. Jack would help anyone, give them his last dollar.
We lost track of each other for many years, but the few times we talked it was if time stood still each time we talked. I will miss my friend more than I can ever say.
