Judy MOFFETT Obituary

MOFFETT, Judy Elizabeth

The beautiful soul of our precious mother and friend, Judy Elizabeth Moffett, was ushered to her heavenly home on the bright morning of October 27, 2014. She leaves behind a devoted army of loved ones who have rallied around her for life's celebrations, trials and most recently in her courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 19, 1948, in Gadsden, Alabama, Judy was the daughter of Elwyn and Marilyn Christopher and the sister to Peggie Lynne and Joe Bob. She spent much of her early life in Birmingham, Alabama until 1976 when her path brought her to Austin, Texas, the place she raised her two beloved daughters. Judy lived life well, always humble in nature and with an unwavering dedication to Jesus, family, friends and work. Her faith and outlook drew people to her as she encouraged them in their own spiritual journeys. Throughout her illness, she held tight to Nehemiah 8:10 - "The joy of the Lord is my strength." She found such joy even in her suffering and inspired a movement of others choosing to do the same. Judy is survived by a multitude of friends and family, including her daughter Cristi and her husband Ben, and their four children Adelyn, Gunnison, Creede, and South; and her daughter Amy and her husband Ben, and their future adoptive children. A celebration service of Judy's life is scheduled in Austin for Saturday, November 1st, at 2pm, at the Austin Ridge Bible Church, 9300 Bee Cave Road, Building D. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you choose joy in your own trials and continually share that joy with everyone you encounter along the way. Donations can be made to Hospice Austin and/or TEEMHaiti.com (an organization that supports the orphanage of Judy's future grandchildren). I feel blessed just to know of Judy through Amy and the BBS! She has inspired so many with her wonderful and positive outlook on life and want to share joy with others. God definitely heard her prayers and He used her as a great role model. The Choose Joy or #pimpinjoy movement has proved to me that there are still fabulous people in the world, and heaven just gained one of the best! Prayers for Amy & the entire family!

Although it's been many, many years since I lived down the street from the Moffetts, it was a true pleasure to play tennis with Judy on many occasions and to serve as a teen babysitter to Cristi and Amy when they were just the most adorable little squirts! I miss y'all very much and wish you comfort and joy as the days and months progress! #PimpinJoy4Judy

My sincerest condolences to your entire family. While I do not personally know Judy, I did pray for her, especially this past 7 days. I have been a loyal listener to the BBS since Amy started with the show. It is so awesome (or is it a sign?) that you will be celebrating her life on All Saints Day! I am sure sure will be rocking the day along with all of the other saints and she'll be telling them about pimpin' joy. May God continue to give you strength, faith and love to get you through this difficult time.

All of us who knew Judy through Amy and the morning show have cried and laughed along with your family. Judy's faith and her wish for joy in trying times has been a true inspiration. I know the movement will carry on and she will be remembered every single time someone says Pimpin'Joy. We should all strive to be someone that will be remembered so well and with so much love and thankfulness. Peace and comfort to your family. Jesus and the angels are having a party in heaven with Judy!

Judy's joyful movement will continue on for many years to come through her two beautiful daughters, Cristi and Amy. Many around the country did not know her personally, but yet we all still mourn. Cristi and Amy, I wish you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
