Lucille Wilson Obituary

Lucille Calvit Wilson 1923 - 2011 Lucille Calvit Wilson, "Mimi" to her family, passed away at home on May 4, 2011. She was 87 years old. Lucille was born on October 27, 1923, in Minden, Louisiana to Maude and George Calvit. When she was 18 years old, she married Harry Wilson, and later had two children, Mike and Marilyn. The couple moved to Winnsboro, Texas, where Lucille was very active in community service and later fulfilled a lifetime dream of becoming a nurse. She worked as a surgical nurse at Winnsboro Hospital for fifteen years. Lucille and her husband were active in the First United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday school teachers and as participants in the Women's Circle and the Methodist Men. In 1982, Lucille and her family moved to Austin, Texas, where she found volunteer work in the Westbank Library. Lucille enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and handwork. She created many beautiful dolls that were sold in fundraisers for the library. She will be remembered for her sparkling blue eyes, her quick wit and sense of humor, and her love of the beauty found in nature. She was an excellent cook and her recipe for turkey and dressing has been passed down through the generations. She is preceded in death by her parents, Maude and George, her three brothers, Bill, Sonny, and George Calvit, all of Minden, Louisiana, and her husband, Harry Wilson, of Austin, Texas. She is survived by her sister, Jan Pyle, of Annapolis, Maryland; her son, Mike Wilson of Longview, Texas; and her daughter, Marilyn Goodwin and her husband J.B., of Austin. Mimi loved her grandchildren: Michael Wilson and his wife, Line, of Ft. Worth, Chris Hamm and his wife Stephanie, of Austin, Jack Wilson and his wife, Kim, of Dallas, Clay Wilson and his wife Michelle of Ft. Worth, Lindsey Goodwin of Austin, Ben Goodwin of Austin, Savannah and Hunter Wilson of Mesquite. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Thea and Finn Wilson of Ft. Worth, Eva and Carolina Wilson of Dallas, and Bella and Sawyer Hamm of Austin. Mimi is also survived by her beloved "Sparky" Goodwin, her faithful Granddog companion, who never left her side. Lucille was an active contributor to her two favorite charities - St. Jude Children's Hospital and the Methodist Mission Home. Her family would like to thank Blanca Elias and Francisco Gordy, her beloved caregivers, and Alma Vazquez and Patty Almond of Hospice Austin, who were unfailing in their care and attention. A private family gathering will honor and remember Mimi on Mother's Day.
