Mark Nevels, 66, of Henderson, Texas passed away peacefully at 2:30pm on November 30th 2016 in his Austin Texas residence.
That day, at that time, this world lost an amazing person, and Heaven gained an Angel.
He was a Sgt in the USMC at the time of his Honorable Discharge. He worked for ARA for the last 15 years and resided in Austin, Texas. He loved his job, and he loved the people he worked with. Mark was one of the best people anyone could have ever known. His heart was pure and kind.
Over the course of his last few months, many of his friends and family referred to him as their hero in one way or another. During Marks struggle with stage 4 lung cancer, he was selfless. He worried more for the people taking care of him, than he worried about himself. This was because each and every night that he went to sleep, he did so knowing exactly who he was, and exactly where he was going should he not wake up. He was at peace with God's decision for his life, and he was ready to go home. His acceptance since day one, was admirable to say the least.
Mark will always be loved and remembered for being a left handed, quirky, gentle giant with a contagious smile.
Mark will be buried at the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday December 3rd 2016. There will be a family viewing at Crawford A. Crim funeral home in Henderson, Texas at 1:00 PM prior to internment. Please do not send flowers. Those wishing to honor Mark's memory may make a donation to the American Cancer Society.

I did not personally know Mark Nevels nor any of his family, however his obit indicates he was loved and will be missed by many. My paternal grandmother often spoke of members of the Nevels family and being younger, I was not interested in genealogy as I am now, the name immediately came to mind.
