Family-Placed Obituary

Marlin Tatum Marlin Tatum, born at Spicewood, TX, on October 13, 1915, to Lilly Maxey Tatum and John Tatum passed away on July 17, 2005, at age 89. He had one sister, Bea Ruth Collier of Marble Falls. Marlin married Ruth Lou Buckner on January 1, 1943, and have one son James Bishop and five girls, Mary Hewell, Karen Glass Dickie Hulsey, Marlene Norene, and Donna Preiss; 15 grandkids and 23 great-grandkids also survive. Marlin was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary. After working in Austin in the early 1940 s Marlin moved to the country and opened Paleface Store on the Pedernales River in 1948 where he was well known for his Bar-B-Que. In 1958 Marlin moved down the road on Lake Travis and started Cat Hollow Fishing Camp. In 1967 Cat Hollow was sold to Briarcliff Land Co. and was developed for sale. Marlin went to work for Briarcliff as a salesman and property and water superintendent until his retirement in 1983. After retirement he continued working everyday with his cattle and serving his neighbors. Marlin was a member of the Spicewood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He also was involved in many other community and area activities. Visitation will be held at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday July 18, 2005. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 19, 2005, at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Lindley officiating. Interment will be at the Fall Creek Cemetery in Spicewood. Arrangements by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls.
