Naomi Weiner Obituary

Naomi Irene Weiner (née Ward), beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and daughter, passed away on May 1st after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Vancouver, Canada, to Arthur "Rusty" Edward Ward and Ryoko Ward, Naomi grew up with her older sister, Tracey, and younger brother, Ken.

An exceptional swimmer and avid skier, Naomi attended the University of Victoria and later moved to Tokyo, where she met her future husband, Jonathan. They were married in Vancouver in May of 1994. The couple settled in Manhattan, where Naomi excelled in her career and raised their two daughters, Sarah Irene and Emily Rose.

In 2004, the family relocated to Asia, spending eight years in Tokyo and Singapore, creating lasting memories and friendships. Returning to the US in 2012, they eventually settled in Austin, Texas, where Naomi was active in the Contemporary Art Museum and the Sustainable Food Center.

Naomi is survived by her mother Ryoko, husband Jonathan, daughters Sarah and Emily, sister Tracey [Anibal] Valente, their children Justin [Natalie], Christina [Brock], and Alyssa, and brother Ken [Jill] and their children Ben, Matthew, and Sam. She is predeceased by her father Rusty.
