A Legendary Coach
Nicholas "Nick" Overton, 87, of Austin, died Friday, June 10th. He was born in Maha, Texas a son of the late Eliza Edmondson and Nicholas Overton Sr. Nicholas was married to Robbie Davis Overton. He worked as an Educator and Coach in the Austin Independent School District. His Life celebration service will be at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 5900 Cameron Road, Austin, at 11AM on Friday, June 17. Public Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at King-Tears Mortuary Chapel. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Flowers can be delivered to King-Tears Mortuary. Go to www.alcbf for greater information. The family has selected Barry J.W. "The Shepherd" Franklin CFSP at A Life Celebration by Franklin to fulfill his final earthly celebration with excellence.

I had the honor of knowing and working with Coach at Martin Jr. High in the early 1970's. Those were the difficult years in Austin Education as we experienced desegregation of our campuses. I was a young beginning teacher and appreciated having Nick and his experience to rely on. Rest in peace Nick. Thank you for touching my life. I was a better man for knowing and working with you.
