Norman Ross Barnes

Norman Ross (Biff) Barnes Norman Ross (Biff) Barnes, of Leander, TX passed away peacefully on December 29,2012, surrounded by his loving family. Biff was born February 16, 1933 in Reagan, TX to Rev. J.D. Barnes and Vallie. Biff graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1950. He attended Tarleton State University and the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Navy (Aviation) from 1951-1955 and was a Korean War Veteran. A long-time resident of Cedar Park, he was a member of the First Baptist Church New Hope and owned Barnes One Stop, for 30 years. Biff is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Barnes; sister, Dell Nutt; and grandson, Keaton Kunetka. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Elrod Barnes; daughters, Kim Greer and husband Gary; Kay Langenfeld and husband David; and Kristi McLemore and husband Mike. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kristopher Kunetka, Clayton Langenfeld, and Charli McLemore; brother-in-law, Sam Elrod and wife Sherry; nephews, Greg Elrod and wife Danielle; and Geoff Elrod and wife Shelly; and John McNutt and wife Julie; niece, Kathy Wilson and husband Richard; and several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 1, 2013, with a Funeral service at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 both at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, Austin, TX. Burial will be 12:30 p.m. at Valley Mills Cemetery, Valley Mills, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
