Opal Sundbeck Obituary

Opal Louise Sundbeck, 98, of Austin went peacefully to be with the Lord on December 1, 2022.

Born the daughter of Charlie Walker and Bertha Keese, Opal grew up in Weir, TX and attended schools in the Weir and Georgetown area. On June 7, 1946 she married the love of her life, Eldon Carl Sundbeck, and they shared over 53 loving years together. Opal was a graduate of the Brackenridge School of Nursing and worked at Brackenridge Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the pediatric nursery for the entirety of her career. She was a founding member of the Crestview United Methodist Church in Austin where she was involved in numerous committees throughout her life.

Opal was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and friend to all and her passing will leave a void in all our lives. Her life centered around her church and her family. Opal was famous for her chocolate chip cookies which she shared in abundance with family and friends including service members stationed abroad.

Opal is survived by her two children, Harold Sundbeck and wife LeeLeen, daughter and son-in-law Earlene and Tommy Stewart of Houston, brother Mervin Walker and wife Tommy, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks 14501 N. IH 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 pm with burial to follow the service.
