Paul Woodall Obituary

Paul Rollins Woodall
Paul Rollins Woodall, age 46, died peacefully on June 7, 2021. Born and raised in Austin, Paul attended Casis Elementary, St. Andrew's Episcopal School and Austin High. He graduated from UT Austin in 1999 with a degree in Radio, Television and Film. In spite of the physical challenges he dealt with due to Friedreich's Ataxia, Paul never lost his sense of humor, delighting in the zaniness of Monty Python and The Simpsons. He loved all movies and was an avid devotee of William Shakespeare. While attending UT, he produced and directed his favorite play "Macbeth". After graduating from UT, Paul formed his own video company, Golden Images. In his free time, he enjoyed playing chess and Scrabble. Paul loved all animals, generously supporting causes such as the Environmental Defense Fund, the World Wildlife Fund and the SPCA. Paul is survived by his mother, Mary Lynn Woodall, and his sister Ann Woodall and her husband Jay Balch of Austin, his father, John Woodall of Elgin, TX, and his beloved uncle John Stokes of Socorro, NM. A memorial service to celebrate Paul's life will take place at a time and place to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to a charity of your choice.

I knew Paul and his sister Ann from Austin High-school. Paul was always a great person despite his pain. He was an inspiration to everyone. Seems I am very late to finding out about his passing. You will be remembered well Sir Paul.

Paul was the sweetest and the best of friends. Many of my favorite memories are of palling around together, working together on scripts and on and off stage, and watching all kinds of movies I had never heard of but that Paul knew everything about. My deepest condolences to Mary Lynn and all Paul´s family and friends. Paul will always live as brightly as he did in my heart.

This world really did not need to lose you so early in life Paul. This world, with all it’s despair, needs you still. This is why your absence will be felt to palpably. I selfishly wish I had more time to talk movies and absorb more of your kind soul. Sending my best to your family and close friends that are surely feeling greater pain than I. I miss you friend!

My memories of Paul are of a sweet little boy. I lived down the street from the Woodalls and used to babysit Paul and his sister Ann. My deepest sympathies to the family.

Paul inspired me by living a full life on his terms, and I loved when we'd visit and get each other laughing hard. An intelligent, deep, and considerate human being who I will always remember.

The Woodalls are indelibly tied to my childhood growing up in Austin, Texas. Our Westover Road neighbors were all practically extended family back then and Mary Lynn, Ann, and Paul were no exception. He was my movie guy. Always keeping me posted on everything current, from Star Wars to Blade Runner to Raiders and so much more. He was a kind and generous soul with a great sense of humor. My siblings and I will always be grateful for him and he won’t be forgotten. I extend all my best love and thoughts to Mary Lynn and Ann during this time. I will always revel in Paul’s tremendous heart and spirit. -Vinny Geraci
