Lela Lee Obituary

Lela Mabel Coleman Vaughan Lee, 92, of Severna Park, Md., passed away June 17, 2012. Born in Alcorn, Miss. to Henry Mack and Mary Magdalene Brock Coleman, she was one of 13 children. She has lived at Kris Leigh Catered Living in Severna Park, Md. since 2009.
She is survived by two daughters, Vickie Vaughan Ballance (Collin) and Joyce Vaughan Dawson (John); six grandchildren; Jason Spencer Dallas, Jennifer Gore Pitt, Timothy T. Gore, Trevor Vaughan Dallas, John J. Dawson III, and Michael Brendan Dawson; and two great-grandchildren; Ciara Pitt and Sean Pitt. She was married to George Lester Vaughan, of Salem (deceased 1972), and to Harry Everett Lee of Roanoke (deceased 1989). A third daughter, Nancy Vaughan Gore, preceded her in death in 2009.
She moved to Salem, Virginia in the late 1930s to work for Burlington Industries. She retired from work with General Electric in Salem in 1983. She enjoyed travel, golf, bowling and crocheting. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Salem, until she moved her membership to Bethel Baptist Church, Yorktown, while residing with family. A private burial is planned at a later date at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Salem.
