R.W. Hoover Obituary



R.W. Hoover R.W. Hoover, age 95, passed away August 1, 2007. He was born in Hoover's Valley, Texas on May 13, 1912 to Eda and Edward Hoover. At the age of 10 he moved to Austin with his family where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a successful dairyman, rancher and real estate investor. He served his community on boards of the Red Cross, Austin Travis County Livestock Show, and the Dairyman's Association. R.W. was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. He was also an avid hunter, from safaris in Africa to bear hunting in Alaska. R.W.'s greatest joy was being Papa to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Hoover; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ray McEachern; grandchildren, Mark, Michael and Megan McEachern; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church's Enlarge Our Territory Project, 10010 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin, TX 78750.
