Ramona Phillips Obituary

Ramona "Mona" Martin Phillips (born Ramona June Martin) passed peacefully on December 19, 2025, at age 65 after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and compassion touched everyone she met. No small part of her grace and strength was learned at the knee of her beloved grandmother, Lucille McKinney Roan (Gray-Hamby).
We highly encourage anyone who knew Mona to leave condolences at legacy.com (search for Ramona Phillips). Memorial service details will be announced there.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Stephen Lynn Phillips; her children, Bryan William Phillips III and his spouse, Andreina "Nina" Medina Lopez; Calvin Vail Phillips; and Abigail Naomi Phillips and her spouse, David Segura; and her beloved grandchildren, Cash Segura and Daisy Segura. She is also survived by her nephews, David Roan Martin Jr. of Minneapolis and Devin Taylor Martin of Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by her only sibling, David Roan Martin Sr. (U.S. Army, retired); her father, Frances June Martin (USAF Captain and World War II and Korean War veteran); and her mother, Naomi Roan Martin. Mona is also survived by her close circle of lifelong friends, including Cindy Benson, Beth Menke, Stephanie Finley, Joan James, Edie Lyttle, and Nguyen Adams.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blood Cancer United, the Lucille Roan-Gray Endowed Scholarship in Music at UT Austin, or a charity of choice.
Mona will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and loving spirit. She will be sorely missed.
