Richard Redfearn Obituary

Richard King Redfearn Richard King Redfearn, age 88, died surrounded by loved ones in his home of 57 years at 6307 Cary Dr. Austin, TX. "Red" as he was lovingly know by all, was born July 7, 1921 in Canyon TX, died Dec 14, 2009. Red joined the US Navy in 1939 and served until 1950 where he achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer in Aviation Ordnances on the USS Saratoga CV3. In 1954 he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he obtained his degree in geophysics. In 1950 he, along with his devoted wife Betty, owned and operated Bluebonnet Campers on Burnet Rd. in Austin, TX until Dec 1988. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth H. Mathew-Redfearn "Betty"; and five children, Marneen E. Mann, husband Roy, Richard M. Redfearn "Ric," wife Betty Jo, Patrick M. Redfearn "Pat", wife Susie, James Michael Redfearn, Neely Kathleen Slagle, husband Kevin of Oregon. Red was proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous children who knew him as "Grandfather Red" Services will be held at St Louis Catholic Church on Dec 17th Austin, TX. Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Assumption Cemetery 2:00 p.m. located at S. IH 35 and Ben White with reception to follow at his home. In lieu of flowers he requests donations to St. Jude's Children Hospital, Austin Children's Center and Hospice Austin.

Red, You gave me a home to come to when I was starting in College and my folks were up in Alaska. Thanks for everything even though you'd send Rick and me out to cut wood for the fireplace. I will never forget that 12 foot two man saw!
