Robert Gatewood Brydson Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was a devoted member of the Austin and Pflugerville communities, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born in Austin, Texas, on August 23, 1942, Bob was a true native Austinite. He attended Ridgetop Elementary and University Junior High before graduating from Austin High School. Through this work, he formed many cherished friendships. Through the Lions Club he became passionate about supporting local schools and students, championing the Lions Club scholarship programs that opened doors for countless young people. In recognition of his enduring impact, he was a Lifetime Member and honored with the prestigious Melvin Jones Humanitarian Fellow Award for Lions Club International in 2025.
Bob was an avid and dedicated fan of Texas Longhorn football and baseball. He also enjoyed hunting dove and deer with his friends and family where he served as chief cook while at the various leases that he hunted on.

Yesterday

I worked with Bob beginning in 1986 at the Texas Water Commission in the Stephen F. Austin Building. I have only fond memories of working with him. What a kind man he was. I am so sorry for your loss. May God bless and keep you and give you peace. And may God bless the memory of Bob Bryson!
