Robert Hendrickson Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Robert Earl ``Bob' Hendrickson, 82, longtime resident of Pflugerville, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2003. He was born February 2, 1921, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, to William and Beatrice Hendrickson. Bob was a coach, teacher, high school principal and superintendent of schools in the Pflugerville I.S.D. He finished his educational career in the Round Rock I.S.D. He was recently honored, by the naming of the third Pflugerville I.S.D. High School, Robert E. Hendrickson High School. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He helped to create the Pflugerville Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Hendrickson was a member of a group of citizens who helped in the incorporation of the City of Pflugerville and served on the planning and zoning commission. He also served Travis County on the ARB Board. Mr. Hendrickson received his pilots license in 1937 and flew for PATCO Air until 1947, with the exception of the war years. He was an avid pilot and bought and sold a number of planes. Many of his friends and neighbors can attest that he was a skilled artist as he gave many of his paintings to them. He was very proud of the students he helped educate. There will be an informal visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2004, in the Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2004, in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. The interment will follow in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, he would prefer the planting of a tree or shrub, or a donation to your favorite charity, or a donation to the Hendrickson High School Scholarship Fund (contact Comerica bank in Pflugerville for information).

Mr. Hendrickson, I probably never Thanked You for your story about the student that had the fake report cards. I know you told it to keep us from making the same mistake but I would have been grounded my entire Senior year without that set of fake report cards. God Bless You and Bonnie and I turned out OK after all.

With Love and Respect, you will live on forever. Not all the lessons you taught me in life were easy ones but I will carry them in my heart to my day of death.

Good-bye Mr. Hendrickson.
