Robin Edmonds

1955 - 2026

Robin Pennell Edmonds passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 71. She was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, while her father was stationed at the Pentagon. A proud "army brat," Robin often shared fond memories of her early childhood spent in Japan. Following the untimely passing of her father, her family settled in Lawton, Oklahoma, where Robin spent her formative years. As a child, she was wonderfully rambunctious-as likely to be found at the top of a tree with a book as she was on the ground.
Her childhood energy eventually found a disciplined outlet in classical ballet. Though she began her studies at the University of Oklahoma as a dance major, her natural empathy led her in another career direction. She earned a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. During her time at OU she became a cherished member of the Theta Gamma Chapter of Delta Delta Delta, forging deep friendships that would span her entire life.
As a speech-language pathologist, Robin's heart belonged to children with special needs. Adored by both children and parents, she made such an indelible impact that some of her young clients remained in contact with her for decades. Later, she brought her talents to the Oklahoma State Senate as an administrative assistant during legislative sessions, and she later found great fulfillment as Director of Religious Education at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Oklahoma City. Her compassion and ability to connect with people defined every role she held.
In 1984, Robin married Steve, and together they enjoyed 42 years of adventure, laughter, and love. Their family became complete with the arrival of their daughter Alexandra, who was the greatest joy of their journey
A new chapter began in 2003 when the family took a leap of faith, trading their deep roots in Oklahoma for a fresh adventure in Austin, Texas. They quickly embraced the vibrant spirit of the city, from its legendary live music scene to its famous quirkiness. Robin's spirit of service continued in Austin, where she gave of herself selflessly, volunteering for Care Communities of Austin and the Loaves and Fishes program at All Saints' Episcopal Church.
In retirement, Robin fell in love with the vibrant culture of Mexico. She and her family considered San Miguel de Allende their home away from home, building a new community of friends, both expats and locals.
Robin will be remembered most for her profound empathy and unwavering compassion. Whether she was supporting a loved one through a difficult season or offering a listening ear to a stranger, she was a constant source of comfort and light. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Robin was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Pennell; her father, Col. Robert Pennell; and her brother, Michael Pennell. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Edmonds, and their daughter, Alexandra Edmonds, as well as a large, loving circle of in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Together, they carry forward her legacy of kindness.
Services will be held in both Oklahoma and Texas:
Oklahoma City: A funeral service will take place on March 7, 2026, at 1:30 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral with live-stream available, followed by interment in the Cathedral columbarium.
Austin: A memorial service will be held on March 12, 2026, at 4:00 pm at All Saints' Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral (Oklahoma City) or All Saints' Episcopal Church (Austin).
