Sarah was a great leader for the Eanes librarians. She was well informed when we went to Texas Library Association meetings and instructed us on the benefits of certain classes. We respected her and held her in high esteem.

Sarah Widener took me, a reluctant volunteer, and introduced me to a life in the Eanes School Library. She was a fierce advocate for all things literate and literary.
In her image, I did become a volunteer, organizer of book fairs, library clerk to Virginia Whitten, and eventually began, with my children, a childrens lending library on a Maine Island. All would have been impossible without the encouragement and kick in the pants from Sarah. She was a force!
