Sharon Talley Obituary
08/20/1957 - 08/21/2025
On August 21, 2025 Sharon Kay Talley of Austin, TX passed away at the age of 68 years in Houston, TX at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital. She passed peacefully after a brave fight against lymphoma as she was surrounded by several family members. She fondly remembered, and spoke often of, her hometown of Garden City, Kansas and her many close friends (Especially the Garden City Girls).
Sharon moved from Kansas to attend the University of Oklahoma for her undergraduate degree. She then arrived in Austin for the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. Austin became her home for over 40 years working for the State of Texas, in private practice, and for the Travis County Attorney's Office. Sharon was highly respected in the law community working to protect victims of family violence, the local environment, and animals among other areas of expertise.
During high school Sharon had the experience of traveling to Italy from a small town in southwest Kansas as an exchange student and remained closely connected to the friends she made there for decades. She always felt that travel to different places to experience different people and cultures was critical for understanding other people and the world. Sharon spoke fluent English, Italian and Spanish. She loved to travel, both internationally and throughout the US. With plans to go to every National Park and all 50 states, she was able to visit 33 of the 63 parks and 47 of the states. The remaining states and National Parks were (are still) on the schedule.
Sharon is survived by her husband Kevin Tucker, her stepchildren, Dana Tucker and wife Julie, Aaron Tucker and wife Jill, and Danielle Tucker. She will be greatly missed by the 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren that she loved deeply. Sharon is also survived by one brother, Jim Talley of Austin, as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply. Her parents Bonnie and Don Talley, and brothers Ron Talley and Brad Talley, preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be provided in her name to the Talley Family Scholarship Fund at Garden City Junior College, Garden City Kansas or your local Habitat for Humanity.

The Celebration of Life for Sharon will be held in Dripping Springs, Saturday September 27. All friends and family are welcome.

Kevin, I am so sorry for your loss. Sharon was a very special friend. We met when we were in our 20's. Separated by distance when I moved, but made a point to reach out over the years. She inspired me to paint. She was talented, smart, and joy to be around. She will remembered dearly.

Sharon, i was honored to be her mother-in-law, was an intelligent, kind, accomplished, caring woman in may roles. We were lucky to have her in our family and her death is a serious loss to the world. We will always miss her but hold her in our hearts forever.

What a loss of such a wonderful friend and co-worker. I worked with Sharon for many years at the Travis County Attorney´s Office as an Environmental Crime Investigator. Sharon always had a smile on her face and was so welcoming to all. It was always a joy to visit her in the office especially after a busy day. I really missed her when she retired. She will be missed by all who know her.

Kevin and family, my deepest condolences to you all. I worked with Sharon at the SOS's office in the Elections Division for years. God has gained a perfect angel! Sharon was so smart, a fabulous lawyer and one of the kindest people I have ever met. I will miss you friend. You are in a beautiful place, reunited with our Maker, and many of your family members, but oh my stars, you are already missed down here. I pray for your family, grands and great-grands.
