Suzanne Diffen Obituary

The spirit of Suzanne Davis Diffen left our world in the early morning hours of August 26, 2025. Although those who remain behind will miss her warm smile and infectious laugh, we are content in the knowledge that she has reunited with her loving husband Ray Diffen, who preceded her in death three years prior. Suzanne was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1947 to parents George and Oma Ray Davis. She was 78 years old.
Suzanne's impact on the communities she loved will be felt for generations to come. She was a passionate advocate and supporter of Indigenous peoples' rights and an avid collector of native art. She also supported the local Austin community throughout her life by serving as treasurer for numerous boards and organizations in addition to educating countless others on investing and financial planning. She loved the beach, musicals, watching movies, and reading cozy mysteries far too late into the night.
She met her husband Ray and his three children, Mike, Leslie, and Marta, in 1977 and the two were married in 1979. Together, they raised their son, Daniel, and were omnipresent in the lives of their grandchildren Amy, Emma, Angela, Brydon, and Darcy. She is also survived by her sister, Laura, and her husband Brian; her nephews Michael and Timothy and their spouses Theresa and Rebecca; and their children Cahill, Ronan, Samuel, and Violet.
As we close a chapter on a generation filled with devotion, love, and kindness, our entire family wants to thank everyone who has offered up their well-wishes and support. We are hoping to host a celebration of life in honor of both Ray and Suzanne in February of next year, and anyone interested in attending can email [email protected] to receive details when they become available. If anyone feels called to make a donation in Suzanne's honor, her favorite organizations included Zilker Theater Productions, The Audubon Society, and the Texas Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America.
