Thomas Elliott Obituary

Thomas Dale Elliott Thomas Dale Elliott passed away Wed., Sept. 10th, at the age of 62. He was born in Minneapolis, but he liked to say, "got to Texas as quick as he could." Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Elliott, brother, Robert Elliott and brother, Ronald Elliott and his wife, Sandy. He is survived by daughter, Lynn Marie Elliott; son, Tommy Elliott and his wife Jennifer and their daughter, Peyton; nephew, James Robert Elliott and his wife, Elvira and their children; and friend, Sharon Roy. Tom proudly served the US. Air Force for over 23 years, 9 of which were served here at Bergstrom, and served two tours in Vietnam. Family was extremely important to him, and he spent many hours researching his genealogy, and more recently spoiling his new grandbaby Peyton. For many years, Tom opened his home and his heart to Dalmatians and other dogs in need of a home. Tom never met a stranger and he drew in the people around him with his warm sprit and quick wit. Services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos.

Tom was a dear friend to my husband and I. Tom was stationed at Bergstrom AFB Austin, Tx. & so were we. We were also stationed at Kadena AFB Japan together. Our children were very good friends. Tom would do any thing for you. I am so happy we had the opportunity to know him. RIP

Not a day goes by without thinking of you. I remember so much like you are 5 ft 16 inches, the long legged cowboy and you couldn't be surprised but your kids and I ended that long run. Never a day without your cowboy boots and hat, you got to Texas as fast as you could. Your family meant the most to you and children and animals as well. Taken far too soon and missing your grand kids grow up but I am sure you are watching over them all. Enjoy that bar in the sky, dancing and having beers with Frank. Your bright star in the sky is seen nightly!

It has been 12 years and I still think of you and at times feel your presences. I see you sitting there in you jeans, long sleeve shirt and cowboy hat. I know how much you loved family and looking forward to spoiling grand kids. Life is not fair nor the cards that are dealt at times. You are one who left his mark on many and will never be forgotten. Till we meet again have another Miller at that bar in the sky and hugs the pups for me.

I just found out today that Tom had passed away. I should have figured out something was wrong. I had not received any emails from him.. My family (Irma, Sue, James II and Joey)have fond memories of Tom. I first met him when I was stationed at Bergstrom back in 1973. We worked together for about 5 years or more in Field Training. He came to my son and my birthday party last year and we reminisced about old time that we had at Bergstrom. He would always call me Jimmy and I will miss that a lot. HE WAS TRULY A GOOD FRIEND AND I WILL MISS HIM AND HIS EMAILS. TOM, GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND THEIR CHILDREN. Jimmy

I have so many wonderful memories of your loved one, Tom. I was present when the trailer burned in Austin and helped move the belongings from the trailer. We lived across the field from you on base, and my wife and family had many wonderful barbecues together and our children, Tina, Craig, and Carly were always to be found with Lynn and Tommy. We were together in Okinawa for several years. I just learned today of Tom's death and have shared the information with many others who knew and loved Tom dearly - Nestor Mendoza, Royce Claywell, John Bowers, Fred Price and others. Tom Elliott was a VERY GOOD MAN and I was fortunate to have been able to call him my FRIEND!

My sincere condolences to the family -- you (and all of us who knew Tom) have suffered a great loss. Most of my conversations with Tom were through email. I first met him 2 years ago -- because I had a dalmatian in need in San Antonio and know from experience to go to the breed rescues for advice and help. Over the last couple of years Tom became my dear friend. We had a chance to finally meet face-to-face this year. He was a true gentleman -- a gentle giant with a wonderful sense of humor and a huge heart. Always there to lend a hand, heart, wisdom and kind word. He loved his children and granddaughter and spoke of them often. I miss you Tom. May God bless your family, your critters and all those that knew you and loved you.

Tom was my favorite internet cousin that I never met. I will always regret not having the chance to meet him in person. We found each other years ago doing genealogy research and I very much enjoyed his emails and getting to know him over the internet. I will miss him very much. He always brought a bright spot to my day and I am very glad I got to know him. My email box has been very dismal without his notes. I will truly miss him.

Cousin Tom will be greatly missed. He was a tall man, in stature and personality. Who knew that he could reach Harrisburg, MO and bring so much humor into our lives! My deepest sympathies to his immediate friends and family. Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew him!

My sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Tom at Bergstrom and later had the privilege of hiring Tom in a civilian capacity. He was great to work with, always so jovial and was a pleasure being around him.

The Cowboy who always said he was 5 ft 16 inches tall. You would say you got to Texas as soon as you could.

Tom you will forever be in my heart and I will always cherrish the years we spent together. I will truly miss you. You loved children and animals. You have rescued, transported and even donated to help animals. You did not like to show dogs but when in a pinch there you were cowboy boots and all in the ring. I am sure Sandy, Lady, Knotty, Austin, Honey and JR were there to greet you.

Your pride and joy were Tommy and Lynn and then Peyton who melted your heart as a Grandpa. You always did for them first.

I remember your 50th surprise birthday party and you told everyone no one could surprise you. Tommy, Lynn and I pulled it off and the place was packed for you to see your face as you walked in. I remember so many wonderful times. Your were a strong man and a had your pride but at times you would let that very tender side show through to the few. You never met a stranger and could out tell any one when it came to jokes.

Now you and Frank can sit at the bar have those Miller Lites, play the country and oldies songs on the juke box, talk of all the times together and do some belly rubbing (dancing) till we meet again. And as only you could say it "OH!"

Our most sincere sympathies to Tom's family. We never had the privilege to meet Tom, but he sounds like a truly wonderful man. As Americans, we would like to thank him for his service to our country. As Dalmatian lovers, we would like to thank him for all the kindness he gave the many dogs that crossed his path. We look forward to caring for Susie and Sweet Pea as he would want them cared for.

We will miss Tom. We saw him every day, right across the street, feeding the ducks and geese that lived in the pond in our neighborhood. Our daughter will miss him the most since she loved to hang in the yard and visit with him. He always knew everyone and was a great neighbor to have.

Mr. Elliott,
Thank you for being a great man. Thank you for serving and loving our country the way that you did. I still remember all of the Saturdays at your house when Tommy and I were in highschool, watching football and eating your barbecue. You raised a great son and daughter. I know that you are above watching them.

Tom - Thank you so much for all you’ve done to the Dalmatian Community. I wish I had known you longer than 5 months but in our brief acquaintances you’ve given me advise on caring for my sick Dalmatian and an excellent referral to the local Vet. God speed Tom! You must have done what you needed to do here on earth…..although we will terribly miss you.
