Thomas Hunt Obituary

On September 2nd at 4:20 in the afternoon, Thomas Alan Hunt, 62, succumbed to cancer and passed peacefully in his sleep. Born in Saginaw, MI December 31, 1960, Tom moved to Austin, TX in 1981. He worked at tinting windows of the big office buildings downtown and hanging wallpaper in many of the new homes built during Austin's housing boom. But, his greatest gift was being a kind and thoughtful friend. He did so much for so many without ever asking for anything in return. Tom was a man of few but clever words. His dry sense of humor and quick wit were appreciated by all who knew him. With his always chill demeanor, he could have taught Gandhi a thing or two about patience. Even after being diagnosed with a terminal illness he still maintained a remarkably positive attitude.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Bill Hunt and Norma Diffin . He is survived by a son, Thomas Hunt Jr of Florida, his brother William Hunt and sister Nancy Guarnieri of Florida, his nieces Katie, Christina and Theresa, his nephew Tim, 3 grand nephews, 6 grand nieces all in Traverse City, Michigan as well as countless grateful friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. We will cherish his memory and enjoy regaling others with telling his stories. Tom Hunt was truly one of a kind and he will live on forever in our hearts.

There will be an private graveside service on Monday, September 11th at the Lockhart Municipal Burial Park. In lieu of flowers a donation in Tom's name to the American Cancer Society or Austin's Christopher House would be greatly appreciated.
