William DANIELS Obituary

DANIELS, William
Carroll "Bill"
This is the story about the life of a very remarkable man. William Carroll Daniels was born in Houston, Texas, on October 3, 1939 to William Henry and Mildred Beryl Daniels.

He faithfully attended Park Place Methodist Church and was very involved in his community. He was a dedicated Boy Scout and went on to accomplish Eagle Scout. Recently, he donated his hand-made projects to the United States Boy Scout Museum in Dallas. He graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in 1957 where he was involved in almost every extra-curricular activity including Head Cheerleader. It was at Milby that Bill began to plant the seeds of forever friendships.

Following High School, he enrolled in Sam Houston State University and was a Charter Member-EZ Chapter Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. There, he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

Bill was also the proud father of a beautiful baby girl, Deidre Gay Daniels. With the sobering responsibility of a child, he left his position at Pittsburgh Plate Glass to attend Dental School at The University of Texas and graduated with honors.

Dr. Daniels enlisted into the United States Army as a Captain in 1969 and served as a dentist. Bill moved to San Marcos and opened dental practices in San Marcos and Wimberley. It was there that Bill met the love of his life, Lurline.

Bill became known as the painless dentist and built a thriving practice. Way too soon, he was diagnosed with A.L.S. While many would have accepted this as a death sentence, Bill took his disease as a personal challenge. He chose optimism in every aspect of his life. Bill researched constantly, changed his diet, exercised regularly, and always, always, always kept a positive attitude. He transitioned from dentistry and launched into a life of service, including his dedication to Lion's Club, Scottish Rite, Masons, Shriners, Wimberley players, Sons of the Republic of Texas, Texas Dental Association, The Heritage Association of San Marcos, and The Scheib Center.

Throughout, Bill pursued his many loves: being an alumni of Sam Houston State University and the University of Texas, old houses, antiques, vintage cars, being a dentist, traveling the world, finances, hunting, fishing, storytelling, joke telling, researching his family history, living in the Texas Hill Country, eating the best TexMex, BBQ, and seafood, and being surrounded by people.

Bill Daniels' love for his wife and family eclipsed all others. One of his greatest joys was to encourage and delight in them. Regardless of where they were in the world, whether it be Kuala Lumpur, London, Brussels, or Virginia, Bill was always eager to travel to them and fulfil his role as Poppy with advice, stories, pranks, and laughter for his precious grandchildren.

After a valiant fight of 31 years, and with his beloved wife by his side, Dr. Bill Daniels left this earth. He is survived by his wife Lurline, his daughter and son-in-law Dee and Kyle Armstrong; his four grandchildren Katherine, Charis, Daniel, and John; his sister Lisa Feldman; his nephew and niece Austin and Alexis; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Sandra Glorioso; mother-in-law Billie Glorioso; and his treasured dogs Heidi and Jacques.

He left an unfillable hole in our lives and will be forever missed.

I want to express the delight and joy I felt when Bill met my best friend. Lurline. The love they lived was beautiful. Their favorite term of endearment was "Honey Bunney." Bill was caring, concerned about his friends, and had many a story to tell. He took great pleasure in making you laugh, and cooking a fabulous meal. I am proud and honored to know such a man. He thought of others welfare. He amazed all of us by beating the odds of ALS. When he made up his mind to do something. He did just that. His perseverance, love of his family, and life directed his steps. Bill celebrated life, and had a rewarding journey. In the precious memory of Bill my prayers and love go out to his family. I will see him again one day. I can hear his laugh. I know he is smiling and carrying on. God Bless you Lurline and all of your family too. Love you with all my heart.
