William Strong Duke Jr.

William "Bill" Strong Duke, Jr. Our sweet Bill passed away on April 3, 2012 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Strong Duke, Sr. and Hazel Collins Duke, formerly of Rockdale, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Georgia Ann Matthews Willis Duke; son William J. Duke and wife, Jerri; daughters Hazel "Missy" M. Duke and Jacqueline Duke Abbott; stepson Bob Willis and wife, Joan; grandchildren Jason Inman, Alex Abbott, Austin Willis and Katie Willis; brother Tommy Duke and wife, Janie of Victoria, Texas; and extended family of cousins, including cousin Bob Duke and wife, Virginia, of Austin, Texas, and niece and nephew, Denise Nance and Scott Duke, and his beloved dog "Crissie Duke". Bill served our country as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1958. He was a successful Realtor and Developer in Port Lavaca, and after moving to Austin, joined Texas Professional Title as Business Manager until he retired in January, 2001. Bill was a prolific reader and lived life to its fullest. He was good-natured, sincere, and exhibited a genuine interest in people, thus cultivating enduring friendships with the people he cared about. Our dearest love, Daddy, Papaw, beloved family member and friend, you will be missed, but the intelligence, honor, kindness and humor will live in the memories of all who crossed your path.
