Butch, you appeared in my dream last night. Missing you this morning, crying, but I'm happy to have had a "visit" from you. Thinking of when you were painting and we were talking about some politics. I had mispronounced Croatia, (I was embarrassed) you found that so funny, loved it so much that you named the painting Croatia after that. I miss you so much. Wishing I was not in my own crisis in the early 2000's.
I send blessings to his family and friends. His memory is still flickering in love.

My name is Ben Skeer! I met wilson on the streets of Austin Texas outside of
Mad Dog and Beans next to a head shop called South Oats?... anyway. we
became friends turned on and hung out a number of times... I am so sad to
hear of his passing...how? When...? He inscribed the back of my painting
with a date and a paragraph to me.... since then I have lost everything,
been living on the street, and been born from the ashes of a dark past, but
never lost the painting that he lovingly gave to me as a friend. I paid my
last dimes to have it stored and safe even when I was not....now I live in a
nice new home, have a great job self employed as a jeweler and artist ....
ever inspired by the words given me by Wilson..." Benjamin, Bless you and
your travels. Be just and love the people. Thank you for your Heart. Wishes
from the Heart come true. To the Past, the Now , and the Morrow... Wilson
Leary...1993.....I call this painting..."The Dance" as he said it name would
present itself to me one day....and it did.... Wilson, Brother, I LOVE and
MISS you, Benjamin....

Oh, Butch. I didn't know until tonight when I looked you up. I have been thinking of you so much over the past year. I treasure the things that remind me of you: the painting, the prototype for one of your collages, the tie dye shirts I still have. . . was there anything you couldn't do? I will miss your friendship and collaboration, your generosity of spirit, your beautiful, beautiful self. I was proud to be a part of the first cyber rave. You would have made more money if so many hadn't brought drums (and I use the word loosely : ). I remember the conversation about the connection between great joy and great pain. I remember the strange shaman ritual in which you removed my scar. I wish you could have stayed, Wilson. -Corndog

Wilson (I knew him as "Butch" in high school) was a very gifted and unique individual. HE certainly stood out in a crowd in the little rice farming town of Katy. Unfortunately, I didn't stay in touch with him after graduation but I heard of his accomplishments in Austin through family members that live there. I'm sure he will be very missed by his friends, family and the City of Austin.
