Carol Ann Enright, age 78, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on June 26, 2016 at home due to complications of lung cancer. Carol was born on Nov. 22, 1937 in Seattle, the daughter of Emmet Victor and Betty Jean (Kincaid) Matheson.
Carol was raised in the Seattle area where she attended school. Following high school, she remained in the Seattle area where she met a young sailor by the name of Larry Enright. They were married in Coeur d'Alene, ID on Aug. 28, 1964 and remained in the Seattle area while Larry finished his military service and worked overseas with the Merchant Marines. They moved to Colville, near Rocky Lake, and continued raising their family.
In 1975, they purchased a ranch on Highway 20 where they have resided since. Carol worked for John Acorn at the Creamery and for Colville Auction Company for many years. She then worked at Safeway for a short time before beginning with Seafirst Bank.
Carol retired from Seafirst Bank in 1999. All the while, she and Larry raised 80 head of cattle on their ranch. Carol enjoyed working alongside Larry, ranching and transporting cattle for Wishon Trucking. They also enjoyed taking pack trips in the Pasayten Wilderness, as well as owning and operating the Cross M Auction Company.
Carol offered her heart with all that she did, whether it was warming winter calves in her bathtub, cooking wonderful meals for friends and family, keeping a clean and neat home, caring for her spoiled canine companions, raising a large garden or serving the public through numerous community organizations.
She served year-round, going from one community project to the next, and serving on the Panorama Rodeo Association, Narcisse Grange, Arden Old Timer's Rodeo, Stevens County Cattleman's Association, Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Kids Junior Rodeo, 4-H, and Relay For Life. Carol loved staying connected with her family, friends and Fox News. She also had a wonderful passion for Christmas that molded timeless memories for the entire family. She enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and savored the adventure of her most recent road trip to Alaska and back with Larry. She shared a friendship as a wife and mother that was simply "the best." Known most affectionately as "Mom" and always taking great care to look her best, Carol offered herself without pretence and with honesty and true character.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean (Kincaid) Matheson, and by her father, Emmett Victor Matheson.
Carol is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Enright, at the home; children, Suzy Kelson and her husband, Rich, Colville; Ron Hines and his wife, Patti, San Jose, CA; Diane Hawkins and her husband, Frank, Colville; Jerry Enright and his wife, Teresa, Moyie Springs, Idaho; brother, Phil Matheson and his wife, Yvonne, Auburn; step-father, Tom Fraidenburg, Renton; grandchildren, Amber Moody and husband, Joe; Dustin Hines and wife, Leslie; Kris Rhodes, Lindsey Hurlburt and her husband, Andrew; Jeremiah Enright, Tori Enright and Nicole Hines; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Gabby, Mia, Marley, Kyrin, and Haidyn.
