Cathleen "Cathy" Mae LeCaire, age 61, a longtime resident of Colville, Washington, passed away on Oct. 11, 2021, at her Colvillehome, surrounded by her family.
Cathy was born on March 17, 1960, in Colville, the daughter of Donald Frank and Charlotte (Pierce) Olmstead. She was raised in Northport, where she attended school and graduated as a 12-year senior from Northport High School in 1978.
Cathy then drove her Yamaha 175 motorcycle to Colville from Northport while working at Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home.
Cathy also worked at Harold's Tavern in Colville for a short time before working for Boise Cascade.
On July 21, 1979, Cathy married Randy LeCaire at the Catholic Church in Northport.
Their first date was to Spokane; they began by stopping at Spauldings for auto parts, and cruised from there into a courtship and marriage of 42 years.
Cathy and Randy began a family and she remained home. Cathy would detail cars "on-the-side" while caring for the needs of her family. Her meticulous work led to greater opportunities and, on Oct. 1, 1989, she opened Protection Plus.
She began hiring help, which eventually included her husband, Randy, in April of 1994.
Her attention to detail and constant motion generated a loyal following from local businesses and individuals, and led to construction of a second store, Protection Plus LLC DBA Pro Plus Powersports in Deer Park, Washington.
Cathy enjoyed her work and only took time off to care for her yard, the LeCaire family farm or family, friends or neighbors in need.
She worked countless hours, many into the dark of night, to ensure spotless perfection and unbelievable spot and stain removal results. She was the "Queen of Overboard" and made sure her grandchildren were spoiled with her love, time and numerous treasures.
If Cathy knew of a need, the need didn't last long, as she extended her unwavering generosity and huge heart.
Her children reflected upon that by expressing "the only thing larger than her work ethic was her heart."
Cathy never pampered herself. She cared only to see that others were well cared for. She shared a life with Randy that began with rebuilding cars, then to raising a family, fostering a growing business, favoring grandchildren and faithfully loving one another for over 42 years.
Cathy was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Davis, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Randy LeCaire of Colville; son, Aaron LeCaire of Deer Park; daughter, Kayla LeCaire (Dustin Joffroy) of Nine Mile Falls, Washington; grandchildren, Archer LeCaire and John Randall "J.R." Mendenhall; sister, Donna Godes (Gary) of Northport; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
