Grant Harsin

1940 - 2021

Grant Harsin passed away at home on July 19, 2021, in the care of his wife, Mary, and stepdaughter, Jill Mosby.
We had wonderful guidance with Hospice and "Always Caring" groups.
Grant was born in Newberg, Oregon, on Nov. 28, 1940. His parents were Harold and Gladys (Cox) Harsin. They came to Colville, Washington, in 1950.
Grant's siblings were Lorraine George, Ron Harsin, Robert Harsin and wife Janet. Ron and his wife Patty have passed away.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; her children, Matt Fredrickson and wife Judy, Jill Mosby (Kerry); daughter, Ginger Berkey; and son, Gene Harsin who has passed; nieces and nephews, David and Tim George, Tracey Harsin, Rick Harsin, Susie Jensen and Danny.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Brandon Hallam and wife Bronwyn, Lyndsi Foral, Jazlyn and Xander Fredrickson; and great-grands Tucker and Briley Urhausen; stepdaughters in California, Shannon (John) Grants, and Trinka (Lyn) Roswell and their children, Delilah, Samantha, Trenton, Lilianna and Weston; and numerous cousins in Idaho, Spokane and Oregon.
Grant was a Navy boy for four years and really loved talking about it. Mary called him her "Blue Water Boy," as he was on the USS Hornet aircraft carrier and had lots of stories to tell.
When he came home, he worked in the woods, drove logging trucks and lumber trucks. He spent a lot of hours on the road.
He was part-owner of Harsin Trucking when he was married to Carol Vaagen. Grant had many friends, lots of family and we all will miss him dearly.
We will be gathering at the Colville Airport at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts will do a nice, short ceremony. Refreshments will be provided.
Mary's gift to him is one more airplane ride when we're done. I know he's flying high now.
