Our Mom, Inez Claire Shong Somerlott, passed away Friday May 28, 2021...shortly after her 87th birthday.
Mom was preceded in death by two sons: Baby Dennis in 1966 from SIDS and her eldest son, Jerry, who passed away July 9, 2020, after an intense fight with cancer.
She is survived by six of her eight children: Lori Somerlott, Denise Wheeler, Cindy Wheeler, Ben Somerlott, Dan Somerlott and Teresa Somerlott Crane and innumerable grand, great-grand, and great-great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be: Saturday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Peone Cemetery on North Bruce Road and Peone Prairie in Mead, Washington.
This is the poem written by Christina Georgia Rossetti, that Mom wanted to share:
Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little-but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me-but let me go
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone
It's all part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me but let me go.
