Josephine "Jo" Timmering, age 85, a five- year resident of Colville, Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on Aug. 26, 2021.
Jo was born on Sept. 13, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Forest and Alice (King) Cummings.
She was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she attended grade school and high school. In her senior year, Jo had the honor of being a member of the homecoming court.
She graduated in 1953 and she continued her education at St. Petersburg College where she earned an associate's degree.
In 1959, Jo married Gerald Andre Timmering. During their marriage, they had four children together and resided in Santa Monica, CA. She worked in the home caring for her family and then began full time employment following their divorce.
Jo had a gift for the coordination of events and soon became an executive assistant in the event planning
She worked for several companies and, in 2005, retired after 20 years with Western Growers. Over those years, she had resided in the communities of Westminister, Corona, Tustin and Laguna Hills, California. In 2016, Jo moved to Colville, where she resided until her death.
Jo was a woman of unwaivering devotion to her Catholic faith. She had a passion for AVON and was a recognized and award winning consultant for over 25 years.
Jo believed if you were going somewhere, you should go there looking your best. She lived this daily and had great style and class.
Jo also had flare for journalism and was one of the co-creators and co-editors of the Singles Gazette magazine, which featured many people of fame and fortune as well as everyone else.
She was an active member of Parents Without Partners and shared in many family events and camping trips over the years.
Jo's greatest earthly love was nurturing her family and she was heavily involved and supportive of her children and her
grandchildren from childhood through adulthood.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Mary Herzig.
She is survived by her four children, Valerie Berg of Spokane, Washington, Terry Timmering (Jodi) of Colville, David Timmering (Erica) of Huntington Beach, Califonia, and Kenny Timmering of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jo Timmering was laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery in Colville following a time of family visitation.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colville.
