David Heinle Obituary

David Michael Heinle

Salem, OR - David Michael Heinle

Dave passed away while vacationing in Maui, Hawaii.

Dave was born in Santa Rosa, CA to Charles C. Heinle and Meredith McCloskey Heinle. He grew up in Santa Rosa and moved to Arcata, CA in 1970.

While in elementary school, Dave learned to play the clarinet, and played in every school band after that. He especially enjoyed his high school band.

Dave graduated Arcata High School in 1973 and studied for a couple of years at Humboldt State University. He was the manager at Tom's Sourdough Pizza in Eureka, CA from 1976 - 1979.

Dave moved to Corvallis, OR in 1980 when he started working for Burger King where he remained for 30 years. He became Director of Operations. He moved to Salem, OR in 1983. After his retirement, Dave began volunteering at the Salem Hospital, which he really enjoyed doing.

Dave is survived by two sisters; Susan E. Louk of Albany, OR and Carol Lang of Eureka, CA; brother-in-law, Howard Lang of Eureka, CA; brother Jim Heinle of San Francisco, CA; nieces Katie Louk of Corvallis and Lindsey Louk of Albany; nephew Marcus Louk of Albany; five great nephews Colton, Baron, Grafton, Maser and Bosco Louk of Albany, OR.

Simply the kindest man ever. There was not a mean bone in his body. Dave, I will miss your laughter. I certainly can't repeat in this forum all the pranks, mishaps, bungles and outright silliness we all had at Boss Enterprises. But as you know, it's all on video. (If only we had known then.) So very glad that your last decade of life was spent doing what you loved most...traveling. Your untimely death in Hawaii reminds me of your visit there in about 1986. When you came back to work we had filled your desk drawer with sand. It is my belief that everyone who knew Dave had the ultimate respect for him as a compassionate human being. I personally truly admired him. And you can all thank me for convincing him to lose the mustache. You know I'm not religious Dave, but I do believe in the human spirit. Please let us know your around.

The cold wind blows as I stand along the shore;
Ocean waves crashing with an unspeakable roar.
The departure of a loved one, weighs heavy on the living,
With intensity of loneness, that seems so unforgiving.

I was just thinking about Dave a couple days ago.
I worked at the HQ office of the BK in Salem( for 10 years before retiring,) when they moved to their new office on Hagers Grove Road . Dave liked to pull pranks on me whenever he could. I remember one time he put a little clear sticky thing on my telephone, then he took all my paper clips and made one long string of them . We all had a good laugh over those.
Bless his soul.
