Helen Clipfell Obituary

Helen (Nye) Clipfell

February 6, 1922 - March 2, 2012

Helen was born February 6, 1922 in Powersville, Missouri, the second of seven children, to parents Ray and Kitty Nye. The family lived in Seymour, Iowa until 1937 when they moved to Oregon. She met Perry Clipfell and they were married April 19, 1944. After living in Mehama for a short time they moved to Lyons where she raised five children and cared for many more. Helen became affectionately known by family and friends as "Ma." She moved to Stayton in 1978 and continued to babysit into her late seventies. Helen kept track of many of the children she cared for and held a special place in her heart for Jeremy and Justin Mitchell.

March 2, 2012 Helen passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Steve. She was preceded in death by husband, Perry; great-grandson, Calvin; brothers, Virgil, Jim, Chester; sisters, Marian and Marie. She is survived by her sister, Fern Van Handel of Bend; sons, Dennis of Stayton, Martin (Judy) of Redmond; daughters, Sharon Brown of Scappoose, Patricia Carpenter of Salem, and Doris (Steve) Summers of Sublimity; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Helen's life will be held at a later time.

To the family of Helen Clipfell- You are all in my thoughts. I remember your mother as a wonderful woman who welcomed the Lyons neighborhood children with great kindness. I have many fond memories of playing upstairs in your house. Oh yes, the apple cider press too! What fun it was to visit your place.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a lovely, caring woman who will be greatly missed. Thinking of you,
Mary (Wilson) King
