Jerold Keuscher Obituary
Dallas - Dallas, OR- Born to Clarence and Ethel Keuscher in Salem, OR on August 29, 1934 and passed away on July 2, 2018. He was the youngest of ten children and is survived by Ron Keuscher, Salem and Patricia Knittel, Lebanon. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Carl, Calvin, Norman; sisters, Lucille, Nadine and Maurine.
He grew up and was schooled in Salem. He served in the U S Army during the Korean War and returned to Salem to begin his optical career. His career as a licensed optician spanned 52 years, working in Salem, OR and Reno, NV, many of those years in his own business. He moved to Reno, NV in 1969.
In 1970, in Reno, NV, he married Janis Guy Barnard. They had just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Together they raised four wonderful children who survive: Mark Barnard, Iowa; Gregg Barnard, Nevada; Michelle Sides, Oregon and John Keuscher, Nevada; also blessed with nine grandchildren: Christopher, Connor, Sara Jane, Amie, Madeleine, Nicholas, Sophia Rose, Zoee and Emma. Several nieces and nephews also survive along with his sister-in-law, Judy Friesen.
One of his many interests included coaching Little League baseball in Reno for several years. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, visiting the Brookings area, traveling, gardening and working in his yard. He was a long time fan of the Giants, Mariners and the local baseball teams.
He read his bible every morning and practiced his Catholic faith. He attended St. Philip Catholic Church.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
