Mary Phillips Obituary

Mary Louise Phillips May 13, 1929 - March 31, 2010 ST. PAUL - Marylou Phillips, age 80, died at her daughter's home in Newberg early Wednesday morning, following a lengthy illness. She was born at Portland a daughter to Ray and Louise Muchen-Manegre. She grew up and attended school in St. Paul. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1947 and the same year was elected the Queen to preside over the St. Paul Rodeo. The following year she was married to Lindy "Willis" Phillips at St. Paul on August 7, 1948. She and her husband owned the local disposal service in St. Paul for several years where she worked as the office manager and bookkeeper. Marylou was a lifelong member of the St. Paul Rodeo Association, a memeber of the St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and antique collecting. She is survived by her son, Jay Phillips and daughter, Jennifer Smith, both of Newberg; one sister, Betth Vlahos of Wilsonville; 5 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 5 in St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul, Oregon. Vault Interment will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, also in St. Paul. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or the American Cancer Society.
