January 2, 1921 - January 1, 2014
As the New Year began, Olav was happy and reflecting while enjoying time and love with his God-given family. Later that evening, Wednesday, January 1, 2014, he was called to his rest until Jesus, his Savior returns. He was born just outside of Trondheim, Norway, where he lived with his parents and 4 brothers, later moving to Bergen, Norway.
After living through occupied Norway during WW ll, he moved to Lillehammer, Norway for work, where he met Inger Oksenholt, and married her November 2, 1949. They began their family of 5 there, then made the adventurous move to America November 1958. As an expert builder/carpenter, Olav's career was steadfast throughout the Salem and Stayton area until he retired in 1988. During his 55 years living in Salem he tirelessly gave of his time and skills to his family, his neighbors, as well as his community through his church and Sons of Norway.
Now he is survived by his wife, Inger, his son, Ronald, his daughter, Ellen Nona, and his granddaughter, Isabelle.
Family, friends and church members are invited to attend his Tribute Memorial, Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 3:00 PM at Salem Central Seventy-day Adventist Church. Arrangements are by City View Funeral Home.
